After the independence of Republic of Macedonia in 1991 the Macedonian government had to undertake arduous economical reforms in order to fulfill the European Union economical criteria’s given in Copenhagen to the countries that wish to become full member states of European Union. The reforms were made in macro economical policies and some structural changes were made in the economy. The new laws of central Bank in 2002 and 2003 had provided legal bacround for the monetary policy. However some of the remaining problems are high unemployment rate, high rate of grey economy, low level of foreign direct investments.
